It Started with a P
The first feature of 2026 is here with It Started with a P by Brittany Pomales (Author) and Andrew Joyner (Illustrator).
I was lucky enough to hear this story read by the author, Brittany Palomes through an online opportunity called Story Time Sprint. My kids and I listened together, and there were giggles from all of us throughout the whole story. The combination of voice, silly illustrations, and clever premise makes this a SUPER entertaining read! Plus, there is the added bonus of alliteration and learning with the letter P. Kids, parents, and teachers will absolutely enjoy reading this one again and again!
King Liam loves a good meltdown when things don’t go his way. When he wakes up from a dream that his birthday would be ruined by something that started with the letter P, he takes extreme measures! Everything that starts with the letter P must go! Goodbye to pizza, pinatas, parrots, pants, people, the party and more! But what happens when he finds himself completely alone?

How many can they find? You could set a timer for 5, 10, 15 minutes depending on their age. If they find more than the line provided, they can add more on the back. Then write the number of how many they found on the line, “I found ____ items that start with the letter P.”
